Potential Resources

Potential resources for Te Reo Māori translation:

  • http://www.nzqa.govt.nz/assets/qualifications-and-standards/qualifications/ncea/NCEA-subject-resources/Science/NZQASci-TechTermsEng-Mao.pdf – Compiled by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA), it contains 285 pages of science and technology terms and their translation, but was last updated in 2010.
  • http://www.taiuru.maori.nz/publicationslib/Dictionary-of-Computer-Related-Terms-Edition-2.pdf – Created and published by Karaitiana Taiuru in 2006. An extensive collection of computer related terms in Te Reo Māori, but there seems to be many variations on each specific term depending on which software program the term was collected from.

Help wanted building a Te Reo Glossary

One of the first and crucial parts of starting a translation project is creating a glossary or list of shared and common terms.

This is particularly helpful in a technical translation project as some of the terms and phrases don’t have direct Māori translations (ie: posts).

Therefore, we are looking for any assistance on creating the glossary which we would also love to offer to any other translation projects to use and share.

If you or anyone you know would like to help with this, please fill out our contact form here.
