FAQ

Does the plugin work with any WordPress theme?

Your theme is rather a container and styling mechanism for blocks. We made sure Getwid blocks maximum inherit default styles from your theme – unless you add your own styles! Getwid is also tested with the Twenty Nineteen theme – they are a great couple.

What happens to my Getwid content if I deactivate the plugin?

Your content will be displayed in a simplified format; it’ll get back to the initial look after you reactivate Getwid.

Are Getwid blocks translation-ready?

Yes. The plugin works with major translation plugins.

Can I use my own icons?

Yes. By default Getwid uses Font Awesome icons but you can add your own ones.

Can I change the “Recent Posts” block layout?

Yes. Copy this file: \getwid\includes\templates\recent-posts\post.php to {your_theme}\getwid\recent-posts\.

This is definitely the best Blocks plugin I've tried on the balance of function and weight. Some of the blocks are a bit superfluous, and I doubt I will have too much need for any future ones; however, because the payload is light compared to other Gutenberg plugins I've tried, I don't really mind them being available for niche situations. (Sure, I'd ultimately like to toggle them on and off individually, but I am a bit of a neat freak.) Overall, the selection of blocks is good and the impact on load times is minimal. The included css has played nicely with my theme too, which is much appreciated. The existence of this plugin makes it much easier for me to dissuade clients who want to kludge up their site with a pagebuilder plugin!

It's very neutral opinion from dev with 10+ y of experience. I enjoy <u>only</u> two block types - container, and headline. It's nice they are so nice, but when I use GW I'm forced to load full bulshit I'll never use on frontend. There's also one huge problem with one of my favorite block - headline: If I don't want to load G Fonts I'm not able to choice weight. I could fork it form my blog personally but I'm not able to do this - all js is minified and not redable. Sorry Guys (and if there are some - Girls). It's a plugin I belive in even without a grate theme You developed, but till I can't deregister blocks and stop loading tons of JS and CSS I can't say I'm fully happy. I'll check it later - maybe my opinion is worth something and You'll implement changes to allow us to save the transfer and get higher Google PSI scores. BTW - please add new option for fonts (font display property). Best, Paul

I'm impressed with how easy Getwid blocks are to work with. The blocks that I tried have lots of configuration options with sensible defaults. For me, the most important block is the section block and that works very well. I like how Getwid extends my existing theme styles and how it doesn't put a ton of inline CSS, like some other Gutenberg block plugins do. Great work fellas!
